She pours dye in amorphous designs to create a poetic image from blended colours and forms. Colour plays the main role in her artworks. She measures life with colour, and believes life is colour and colour means being alive. Irene Monique Salehi was born in Paris, lived in France and Iran, and currently is living in Toronto, Canada. Irene has always had a passion for painting, drawing, sewing and other arts and crafts. She studied traditional drawing particularly illustration and tapestry design in Tehran Art University.

In France, she completed silk painting classes under the supervision of a renowned artist. There she learned different techniques of silk painting, which she has developed and applied in her artwork over the years. In Canada, she also attended Sheridan College where she was a part of the Crafts and Design (specific to textiles) program.

Irene's work includes silk scarves, silk painting displays, mixed-media greeting cards, silkscreen prints, textile designs, and even felt art works. Her main focus, however, remains painting on silk and using mixed-media.
